Avatar maçonnique

Dans la grande tradition des forums (ou fora) sur le web, les intervenants se représentent par un "avatar".

C'est sous le pseudonyme de BrotherV que Brian Viehland intervient dans les forums de Mastermason.com (forum.mastermason.com). Avouez que l'avatar de Brian (très "South Park") est bien sympathique ! Il est vrai que, dans le civil, Brian exploite sa fibre artistique comme en témoigne le site de son entreprise Design on the Square.

Note : dans ce forum, BrotherV s'inquiète de ce que l'on a pu écrire ci-dessus et les traductions automatiques ne l'aident guère. Quelqu'un peut-il traduire les 2 paragraphes ci-dessus en anglais ?

Excuse the English, I do not speak French, so my understanding of the comments here is a little shaky.

My avatar is not the logo of my company, although it has the logo in it. The avatar was created to be used on a masonic website, so using the square and compass is more than adequate. The South Park rendition of "me" is just to be fun. The logo of my company is a big part of who I am, so I included it.

As for my company, Design on the Square, I named it that for several reasons. For the profane, or non Mason, it doesn't stand out as anything more that a design company, possible one located on the town square. For another Mason, the name is subtle, but may elude to my membership in the fraternity.

But most importantly, to me the name of my firm reminds me on a daily basis to live up to my obligations as a Master Mason and to act upon the square with everyone, not just fellow masons. I hope that my clients and business associates see that I treat them "on the square" and I hope that fellow masons see that too.

Sur ce forum d'autres utilisent des avatars encore plus voyants.

De toute manière, il s'agit d'un forum entre FM alors l'utlisation de l'iconographique maçonnique n'a rien de surprenante ni de choquante. On sait bien que l'importance des symboles n'est pas dans leur apparence mais dans leur(s) signification(s)

Ouah quelle envolée...
Il s'agit d'un "avatar" au sens representation d'un individu sur la toile, (Je ne dis pas "web" pour ne pas me faire reprendre), et non de l'incarnation d'un dieu selon le religion Hindouiste.
Internet révolutionne notre société et, par conséquence, notre bonne vieille maconnerie.
Grace a cet outil, je suis en contact avec des macons "reguliers", moi qui suis "irregulier", et nous apprenons a nous connaitre et nous respecter. Ce qui etait impensable avant les annees 90. Donc oui avatar, chat, forum et compagnie font partie de notre vie actuelle et l'ignorer est une gageure.
Bienvenu dans le monde moderne ;-) (en francais : clin d'oeil fraternel)
